d.i.y. 2D Animation - #02 Deciding to animate your script

Some might say that deciding to animate a 106-110 page screenplay is a bit ambitious, and they're right, but it isn't hopeless. Just a lot of work. But, once you've figured out the workflow, it's all about creating entertaining material. Besides a good script, creating custom characters and backgrounds are two of the key components to completing the task. And fortunately with modern software, anyone can animate something... Even a slice of cheese. Updated June 30, 2017: COMING SOON!!! - My notes on how I created my full-length animated feature, "The Grid: Zombie Outlet Maul", which is now available on Amazon Prime and Downloads. As a writer, the most awesome thing that can happen is to have characters you haven't even met yet begin talking to you.  This was exactly happened to me, when I began putting together the ideas for THE GRID. Sure, this world, I've created that is run by electric and electronic devices is prone to to this sorta thing, but once "the switch" was thrown... ; ) the power of THE GRID's world couldn't stop flowing. The voice recorder on my phone quickly became filled with puns, jokes, character and story ideas. But, how do you make something like this more than just a few minutes of puns and jokes? Aaaaachoooo! Okay, so it's been almost a year since I posted, and I have a lot to report back on. During late 2012, I decided to go into the direction of animation and wrote/created/completed a 5 minute short/pilot called THE GRID.  Since then, I wrote a feature length script based on the short, and now THE GRID: Zombie Outlet Maul is in d.i.y. development. I've enlisted several artistic friends to help me pull it off. We're just getting starting with our fundraising at Seed And Spark:  http://www.seedandspark.com/studio/grid-zombie-outlet-maul What makes this such an awesome project to be involved with is that it's not that incredibly hard to do it yourself. Although making any sort of full-length project (110 min) alone isn't the best idea, it can be done, and over the next few weeks, I plan to share how it's going and the steps we're taking to make it all happen. So, stay tuned... LA
